EPA Renovation, Repair & Painting Rules Class

Do you handle any stage of the remodel process? If so, you must complete the following course by April 2010, to be EPA certified. NAHB already has a number of resources available to help members comply with the new lead paint rule. Remember that remodelers and builders who do renovation or remodeling projects in homes built before 1978 must soon comply with new lead paint safety requirements set by the EPA.


EOC Update Chinese Drywall

As you know, certain drywall imported from China is alleged to contain high levels of sulfur and/or other contaminants, which it is emitting or off-gassing.
Since the last update there have been several new developments.

On January 28th the Consumer Product Safety Commission, which is leading the federal investigation into this problem, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development, released interim guidance on how to identify homes with corrosion from problem drywall. Read more of David Jaffe's Report.
